About The Author

Jerry M. Burger, PhD, is a professor of psychology at Santa Clara University and a recognized scholar within his field. Dr. Burger has published more than a hundred scholarly articles and chapters. He is the author of Desire for Control: Personality, Social and Clinical Perspectives (Plenum) and Personality (Wadsworth/Cengage), a best-selling college textbook. He has served as an associate editor for the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and as a consulting editor for Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Personality, Basic and Applied Social Psychology, Communication Monographs, and Social Influence.

Dr. Burger has appeared on Primetime, Nightline, Anderson Cooper’s 360 and National Public Radio. His research has been reported in the New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Oprah Magazine, Wired, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Vogue, Men’s Health, Ladies Home Journal and Psychology Today, among other publications.
